He opened Steele Hardware in 1924 and Steele Motor Company in 1935. He served as mayor 1933-37 and 1939-41 (his father, H.W. Steele, was first mayor of the town, elected in 1883).

Oddly for such an expensive property with a large, well cared-for house, there are no interior pictures of the house.
